MATE Productions is a theatre and community arts organisation based in Cockpit House in Prescot, Knowsley, established in 2000 as Merseyside Arts Theatre and Education. Led by Artistic Director Gaynor La Rocca and a dynamic team of creative professionals, MATE delivers creative skills development and life enhancing community engagement across the generations through theatre, music, dance and the creative arts, and produces artistic work of a professional quality that continues to push boundaries and never fails to surprise and delight.
MATE specialises in spectacular site-specific and outdoor touring productions of Shakespeare’s plays, re-imaginings of literary classics and working with writers, poets and musicians to produce exciting new work such as our enchanting walkabout fairytale productions for children and families.
MATE is kindly supported by Arts Council England and Knowsley MBC and is an Associate Company of the Shakespeare North Trust and an RSC Open Stages company since 2013.
